SMS Lemon Sour Cream Pound Cake

Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted in over a week! I had intentions to blog and even cooked several dishes; the Yankee Pot Roast Soup that was just OK, the patty melts that were pretty good but we were starving and they were gobbled up before I could take any pictures, and a quick lasagna recipe that was fantastic but, again, hunger took precedence over pictures.
I also made this week's SMS recipe, Lemon Walnut Sour Cream Pound Cake picked by Raeann at Basically, Baby Boots. I apologize for the unattractive photo, I snapped a couple of pictures after I took it out of the pan with the intention of taking more the next day and it just didn't happen.
I love pound cake! I love their simplicity and that it is delicious all by itself or can serve as the base for something more (a towering strawberry shortcake comes to mind). This recipe was pretty standard pound cake in terms of ingredients and process. I ommited the walnuts because I don't like them and just wanted something simple. The lemon flavor was nice in both the cake and the glaze and the texture of the cake was dense, in a good way, and moist. I overcooked it just a tad and that may be the reason we ate one slice and then it sat on the counter, uneaten. I think this is a good recipe, but I'm not sure I will use it again having a couple of others in my files that I prefer.

  2. Im glad you were able to bake with us this week. I liked this recipe and thought the pound cake was very moist. The last few I have made came out dry, this one was a nice treat! I only had to bake mine for 1 hour. Your bread looks the perfect color golden brown to me!

  5. Sorry this one was a little disappointing! I love lemon and it's pretty hard for me not to like cakes that use it, so it was a hit here!

  7. Sorry this cake wasn't a hit. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't try this one again. I find it nearly impossible to ever take photos of dinners - always way too hungry!

  9. Candace,

Thanks for baking with me this week. I'm sorry that you and the family didn't like the results of the pound cake. It looks good, and at least you got a picture of yours...wink. Please let me know if you decide to share your other pound cake recipes with us. I'll be happy to try those to compare.
