Baked Sunday Mornings - Baked Cheese Grits

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to eating grits but I'm loving them.  Especially when they are full of cheese like these Baked Cheese Grits from Baked Explorations.

I used smoked gouda instead of cheddar because that's what I had and let me tell you, they were fabulous.  I loved the smokey flavor it added.  The grits themselves were creamy and delicious.  These would be the perfect bedding for a pile of grilled shrimp.  Or alongside a plate full of eggs and bacon for a traditional Southern breakfast.

You can find the recipe at Baked Sunday Mornings.

  1. We're having shrimp for thanksgiving and plan on having cheese grits alongside it. I love grits--they're a great vehicle for butter and cheese!

  2. I also just started to love grits! My favorite is to put an egg and crumbled bacon on top. These look delicious =)

  3. I love that you used a cast iron pan. I think that would make them taste even better. I have a few of these pans but never seem to have much luck using them. (user issue) Smoked cheese does sound lovely with these.
